

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Valerie Marie Raymond announces her passing which occurred on November 3, 2022 at the Arborstone Enhanced Care in Halifax. Born at Digby General Hospital, April 17 1951, she was a daughter of the late Hantford and Jean (Stanton) Raymond. Valerie grew up in East Ferry, Tiddville, and Digby. She was born with Cerebral Palsy, but that didn’t get in her way of wanting to do things, very determined she was. In her twenties, she got two types of Arthritis which crippled her hands tremendously. Valerie loved to crochet and help with quilting. She took care of children and the elderly through her life. In the summer of 2004, she had to have special care because of her disabilities and had to move to Halifax nursing home, Arborstone Enhanced Care, where everyone loved her and she had excellent care. Valerie leaves behind a brother, Glendon (Marion), Mill Cove, NB; three sisters, Sharon Farris, Coldbrook, Nina (Douglas), Weymouth, Belinda (Ernie), Wellington and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Valerie was predeceased by her twin sister, Veronica and brothers Lesley and Myles in infancy. Visitation will be 6-8pm Tuesday, November 8, funeral service 1pm Wednesday both from the Little River Baptist Church. Mrs. Kelly Tidd will officiate with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Little River. Donations in memory can be made to the Arthritis Society, Hillcrest Cemetery, Little River or to the Little River Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Dr. V. Lewis and all of those who took great care of Valerie, including Tracey who kept Valerie company when the family was unable to be there.
