It is with profound sadness that we lost Fred Davidson of St. James, New York (formerly from Plainview, NY) who passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022 at age 86, son of the late Sally (nee Goldman) and Abraham Davidson.
Devoted husband to Harriet Davidson (nee Cooperman); they enjoyed 64 magical years together. Loving father to Beth Cioffi, Melissa Davidson (Steven Welish), Stephen Davidson (Jen Adrian) & Scott Davidson (Jackie). Cherished grandfather to Sara, Ryan, Sydney, Cesaré, Alivia, Jordan, Amanda & Joshua. He is survived by his brother Bernard Davidson and his sister Rita Lefkowitz.
Fred had a long and fulfilling career in the insurance/finance industry. He made many amazing and wonderful friends during his career, all of whom adored him. He was a mentor to many that crossed his path. He was a whiz at math, always enjoyed doing the NY Times Crossword puzzle, as well as any and all puzzles that came his way.
Fred, along with his wife, Harriet, and beloved friends, traveled the world where he experienced different cultures and lifestyles. He visited wonderful places such as Italy, Greece, Israel, the Panama Canal, Alaska, Hawaii and out West, to name a few. His favorite pastime was playing cards (May I, Canasta and poker) with his good friends, as well as frequent trips to the museums, operas, Broadway shows and day trips to interesting places. He had wonderful, fulfilling times with his wife and friends.
Fred’s pride and joy were his family, especially his grandchildren. He took enormous pleasure when he was together with everyone. The family took yearly vacations up to Lake Bomoseen, Vermont – his grandchildren always got so excited but no one got as excited as he did. Fred always planned the itinerary and organized the trips, always stopping for breakfast in Sloatsburg. The family did EVERYTHING together – eating meals, renting boats, going in the lake, apple picking, etc.
Together with his wife Harriet, there was a Hanukkah party held at their house every year with mounds and mounds of gifts for their children and grandchildren. There was also non-stop eating, games including Bingo where he was always the caller. It was an all-day affair which made him so happy.
Fred will be missed terribly by his loving family and friends. There are so many memories that we could list about Fred that will stay in our hearts forever.
