Jane Lynn Feder

Jane Lynn Feder passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14th. Jane was born on September 23, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York, the only child of the late Ralph and Patricia Hellman. Jane graduated from NYU in 1961, then went on to work for various New York City publishing companies, including Random House and Harper and Row. Eventually she started her own business as an agent for writers and illustrators of children’s books. She continued this career right up until her death.

Jane is survived by her ex-husband Michael Feder (married 1961-1979) and their beloved son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Jocelyn Feder.

Jane enjoyed many things in her lifetime, including travel, art and music. She also loved to read great works of fiction. She aided in the career development of many writers and illustrators in the children’s book industry.

She was a devoted mother and friend to many in her lifetime, and will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either Planned Parenthood or the ACLU – two organizations that Jane had great fondness and respect for.

Jane will be buried next to her mother, Patricia, at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon, New York.
