

She graduated Valedictorian from Washington Irving High School. Then she received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Education from NYU. Then she received her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Hunter College. She worked over 30 years in the NYC Public School System.
She married Irwin Martin Cooperman on June 18, 1955. They were happily married for 38 years. They had two children, Tara and Todd.
They moved from Forest Hills to Oceanside, Long Island in 1970. Mildred lived in Oceanside for approximately 30 years. Then she moved to East Meadow, New York in 2000.
Mildred loved to play bridge and had a regular game every Tuesday night. She also loved reading books and newspapers. You could always count on her to be up to date with current events. Mildred also loved to do the Jumble and the Cryptoquote.
Mildred was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed visiting Tara’s family in Merrick and Todd’s family in Marlboro.
Mildred was happiest when surrounded by her family and proudly displayed many pictures all over her apartment.
Mildred loved attending family events. She either attended her children’s and grandchildren’s graduations in person or watched them on line. She’s also enjoyed attending various school functions. She was also thrilled to be escorted down the aisle by Jacob while joyfully having a front row seat at Ella’s and Sam’s wedding.
Mildred maintained close contact and friendships with family and life-long friends.
Mildred was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be missed more than words can say.
Mildred is survived by her daughter and family Tara Faith Cooperman - Valk, Mildred's son-in-law Martin Edward Valk and her grandson Jacob Daniel Valk.
Mildred is also survived by her son and his family Todd Jonathan Cooperman, Mildred's daughter-in-law Wendy Joy Cooperman, her granddaughter Ella Shoshana Cooperman Schachter and her Grandson-in-law Samuel Evan Schachter, her grandson Joshua Adam Cooperman and her granddaughter Sarah Shayna Cooperman.
A funeral service will be held at I.J. Morris, located at 21 East Deer Park Road, Dix Hills, NY 11746, on July 2, 2025 at 2:30pm.
Burial will follow at Wellwood Cemetery, situated at 1500 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704, on July 2, 2025 at 3:45 pm.
