Monroe was born on January 16, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Abraham and Esther. He graduated Abraham Lincoln HIgh School and continued his studies at Brooklyn College. He later obtained his Masters of Business Administration at New York University.
Monroe married Elaine Jacobs on June 25, 1966. They were married for 42 years until Elaine's passing on March 23, 2008. Monroe worked as a retail analyst on Wall Street at Bear Stearns for most of his career. He retired in 1966 from Lazard Freres. He served for four years in the National Guard.
Monroe is survived by his two children, Michael and Elizabeth, grandchildren, Grant and Joshua Babyatsky, sister, Naomi, and his nephews and nieces, Leslye, Barbara, Mitchell, Marla, Teddy, Michael, and Robert. He is predeceased by his sister, Annie.
A graveside service for Monroe will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 11:30 am at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704.
