

She was married to her husband Ernest (Ernie) for 48 years, who predeceased her in 2005. She attended City College and began her career as an elementary school teacher in Harlem. They resided in Queens until 1968, when they moved to Commack. She continued her teaching career at Holbrook Road Elementary School in Centereach until her retirement in 1986.
Norma was quite creative, loved antiquing, and enjoyed all forms of sewing, including needlepoint, quilting, and knitting. She loved sharing her skills with others, often gifting her beautifully crafted pieces to family and friends.
Norma and Ernie were founding members of Temple Beth David. Norma was an active member of the SY/JCC and a Lifetime member of Hadassah. She also enjoyed Broadway, museums, travel, yoga Mahjong, canasta and lifelong learning online or with elder hostel groups.
Norma had many lifelong friends going back to her days in the Bronx, Commack, and Florida, where they spent many winters as “snowbirds.” She is survived by her son Bob, daughter-in-law Jennifer, daughter Diane, her late partner Fabrizia and her granddog Lucky. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Cynthia Leonard and her niece Evy, nephews Marc (Beverly) and David (Angela), and several grand-nieces and nephews and many cousins.
A graveside service will be held on 3/11/25 at 11am at Mt Ararat Cemetery, 1165 NY 109, Lindenhurst, NY. Friends and family are welcome to gather for shiva at her residence following her service.
