Charles Royce Helms

Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to AlaCare Hospice, 3329 W. Main St., Dothan, AL 36305.

Mr. Helms was born March 21, 1930 in Dothan to Roy and Alma Forehand Helms and lived here most of his life. He was a graduate of Dothan High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Helms was employed with Lewis-Smith Supply Company for over 20 years and later worked as a security guard with D.S.I. for several years.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol “Elaine” Helms of Dothan; a son, David Helms (Freida) of Cottonwood; a daughter, Barbara Bateman (Rodney) of Dothan; five grandchildren, Crystal Helms, Heather Helms, Sherri French (James), Erica Parrish (Zachary) and Jared Bateman.
