Edward Lee Richardson Jr.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel on West Main Street with Rev. Rick Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in Dothan City Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. At other times the family will be at the family home, 205 Lighthouse Drive in Dothan.

Mr. Richardson was born April 16, 1925 in Covington County, Alabama and moved to Echo where he lived for several years. After his marriage in 1944 he resided in Enterprise before moving to Dothan in 1958. He was employed at Fort Rucker for several years with Post Engineers, and later was a machine operator at Rock City Sales for many years. After his retirement he was engaged in the trucking industry. Mr. Richardson was a member of Memphis Baptist Church.

Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Lee and Celia Ilean Spears; a daughter, Cheryl Melissa Richardson; and two sisters, Lela Pauline Fischer and Iva Nora Preston.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Florene Garner Richardson of Dothan; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Shannon Richardson of Dothan; two brothers, Willie Oliver Richardson and Kermit Richardson (Eula), all of Dothan; a sister, Linda Scott (Jerry) of Ellijay, GA; step-grandchildren, Hunter Waldman and Haylay Waldman (Travis Patterson); step-great-grandchild, Hollie Paige Patterson; his beloved dog, Teddy.
