

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Willis officiating and Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to service time. At other times the family will be at the home of Ange and Les Thagard, 71 Winslette Road, Dothan.
Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1231 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL 36301 or a favorite charity.
Mr. DeLoney was born October 16, 1923 in Dothan and lived all of his life here. He was a graduate of Dothan High School and the University of Alabama where he received his degree in business. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army. Mr. DeLoney was employed as a bookkeeper with the City of Dothan and then worked with Porter Hardware for over 37 years in the accounting department. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. DeLoney was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and served as the first treasurer.
Mr. DeLoney is predeceased by his parents, John William and Jessie DeLoney, a brother, Jack DeLoney and a sister, Virginia McClenny.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Esther DeLoney of Dothan; two sons, Bill DeLoney (Angela), Don DeLoney (Kay), Angelyn “Ange” Thagard (Les), all of Dothan; five grandchildren, Bill DeLoney (Kara), Cameron DeLoney (Kendall), Rachel Hummel (Gordon), Nicholas DeLoney (Jennifer), Garrett DeLoney (Ashley) and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Johnny DeLoney (Ted) of Aken, SC and a sister, Sue Coe of Dothan; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Serving as active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Alton Cantrell Sunday School Class.
