

Dr. H. Fred Williams, of Dothan, went home to be with our loving heavenly Father on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Flowers Hospital. He was 84 years old and served Southern Baptist Churches for 64 years. He was currently serving as Pastor of Hacoda Baptist Church, Samson, AL.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Columbia, AL where he pastored for 8 ½ years. Dr. Jay Strack of Orlando, Florida will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made to their own churches or to a charity of their choice.
Dr. Williams served as pastor of Glades Baptist Church, Biloxi, MS; First Baptist Church, Winter Garden, FL; First Baptist Church, Arcadia, FL, North Ft. Myers First Baptist Church, Ft. Myers, FL; Ebenezer Baptist Church, Columbia, AL and Hacoda Baptist Church, Samson, AL. He also served as Director of Missions for Royal Palm Baptist Association.
A Purple Heart Veteran, Dr. Williams, served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and as a U.S. Army chaplain during the Korean Wars.
Dr. Williams is predeceased by a daughter, Dana Lyndale Drawdy.
He is survived by his wife Norma, of 60 years, and three children-Daryle Lynn Scott (Brad) of Clemson, SC, Danise Laurel Peters (Donny) of Dothan, AL, and David Frederick Williams (Deborah) of Cary NC. Surviving grandchildren are Amy Drawdy, Brian Williams, Jeffrey Scott (Sara), John Scott (Kirsten), Tyler Peters, Allyn Joy Williams, Matthew Williams, Amanda Williams and Joshua Williams.
