

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert C. Oates and Rev. Bob Baxter officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P O Box 1170, Dothan, AL, 36302.
Mr. Robinson was born November 2, 1919 in Dothan, Alabama where he lived all of his life. He was a 1938 graduate of Dothan High School and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army. He owned and operated Robinson’s Grocery and Market (which his father established in 1936) for almost 40 years. He loved woodworking and was an avid golfer. Mr. Robinson was a member of the Dothan Country Club and the Hackers Golf Group. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Fred M. Garner Sunday School Class.
Mr. Robinson was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Annie Robinson, a son, Charles William Robinson, a brother, Charles Rayford “Ray” Robinson, Jr. and a sister, Geraldine “Jerry” Poitevint.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Anita Walker Robinson of Dothan; a daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Mark Tew of Atlanta, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Nancy Robinson of Fairhope, AL; grandchildren, Paige McNamara of Rosemary Beach, FL, Ashley Bunkley, Jay Robinson, Sarah Tew and Ryan Tew, all of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Conner, Mitchell and Davis McNamara and Megan and Charlotte Bunkley; several nieces and nephews also survive.
