Jan Harrell Hardy

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Byrd Funeral Home with Mark Preston officiating. A private burial will be held in Donalsonville, Georgia. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Mrs. Hardy was born August 22, 1937 in Donalsonville, Georgia, the only child of Earl and Christine Harrell. She was a 1955 graduate of Seminole High School in Donalsonville, Georgia. She received her business degree from Troy State University and later her nursing degree from Wallace Community College. Mrs. Hardy worked as a registered nurse at the Houston County Health Department in Dothan and in labor and delivery at Flowers Hospital. She also was an instructor in the education department at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She has resided in Dothan for the past fifty years and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

She is predeceased by a daughter, Laurie Heacock.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Hyde (Ed) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jessica and Sara and Will, all of the Birmingham area.
