
A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2010 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Funeral services and burial will be held in Saranac Lake, New York at a later date. Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street has charge of local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Honduran Mission Fund of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 2569 S. Brannon Stand Rd., Dothan, AL 36305.
Mr. Stickney was born in Saranac Lake, NY on March 4, 1928. He lived his early life there before joining the U.S. Air Force and served for 16 years. Following his discharge, he moved to Mobile, AL and was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 17 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and had a passion for international missionaries.
He is survived by 3 children, Debra Stickney Carlisle (Robert) of Dothan, Kenneth Jay Stickney (LaJuana) of Ft. Worth, TX, and Rebecca Stickney Jones (Terry) of Mobile, AL; 7 grandchildren, James Clay Stewart, Katherine Felicia Stewart, Stephanie Michelle Carlisle, Robert J. Carlisle II, Elaina Kathleen McAlister, Angela Faith McAlister, and Sara Kristyn Carlisle; 4 great-grandchildren, Robert J. Carlisle III, Adam Lee Carlisle, William Blake Carlisle, Samuel Landon Carlisle; and 2 cousins Mary and Helen Eldrett of Watertown, NY.
