

She was born in Bremen, Georgia on November 25, 1937, the daughter of the late Amos Simpson and the late Ovaleen Williams Simpson. Alene had a big heart, she loved people and especially children. Her nurturing qualities would shine through as she worked with special needs children as a bus monitor with the Douglas County School System. Alene retired after a number of years with the school system. She had been a member of Liberty Baptist Church for over ten years. Alene liked furniture shopping and getting her hair and nails done with family and friends. Cooking was a specialty of hers and some of her favorites were chicken and dressing and collard greens.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharla Cornwell; grandson and wife, Matthew and Alaina Cornwell; great grandson, Oakland Cornwell.
In addition to her parents, Amos and Ovaleen Simpson, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Perry, Jr. and a host of brothers and a sister.
The family will receive friends at Whitley Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Marbut officiating and interment will follow the service in the Rosehaven Cemetery.
