Bettie Jo “Jodie” Cooley, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, passed away the morning of her 90th birthday, Saturday, June 5, 2021. She was the last surviving child of seven children, born June 5, 1931, in Atlanta, Georgia. Jodie loved spending time with her family and friends. She retired from Sun Trust Bank with a career spanning 30 years. Jodie enjoyed watching sports and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and golf. Jodie loved to travel and upon retirement, she and Ed travelled the United States from coast to coast and border to border. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitch and was an avid fan of solving daily crossword puzzles.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Richard and Odessa Long; five brothers and one sister.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 73 years, Edward “Ed” Seaborn Cooley; son, Clay Cooley (Jackie); grandchildren, Claire Cooley and Nicholas “Nick” Cooley; nieces and nephews, as well as many other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel. Jodie will be laid to rest at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, Georgia.
