She was born on May 7, 1948 in Dallas, Texas, and was the daughter of LaVerne Fain Wilcox (nee Davis), and the late Carl Fain. In addition to her father, Charlie was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Libby Burdick.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Michael Bean; mother, LaVerne Wilcox; daughters, Ashley Florez (David), Lindsay Switzer (Chris), and Lora Seabourn (Todd); step-children, Andrea Bean, Brad Bean, and Candace Guardado (Jimmy); grandchildren, Madison, Meredith, Makayla, Kelsey (Damien), Bailey (Lacey), Brantley, Kynley, Kylie, Hunter, Lainey, Jolee, Ireland, Giovanni and Marley; 8 great-grandkids (and another one the way); sister, Marty Sawchuk (Bill); sisters-in-law, Deb Campbell (Robert), and Holly Claypool (Mike); brother-in-law, Anthony Burdick; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Born and raised in Texas, her roots ran deep. Charlie graduated from Bryan Adams High School in Dallas, where she was a member of the drill team, the Belles. She attended Texas Tech University and was part of the ZTA sisterhood before landing her dream job as a flight attendant. A proud Delta retiree of 32 years, she enjoyed her time as part of the Flight Attendant, In-flight Scheduling, and reservations teams. Charlie loved her time at Delta and made many friends that she considered family.
Charlie loved friends, family, country music, all things “Texas”, and a good margarita. Her smile, spunk, quick wit and laugh were unmatched, and her outgoing charm, energy, and charisma often landed her in the center (or the ringleader) of any activity. She was typically one of the feistiest of the bunch, with a grit, determination, and competitive spirit that was admirable. Charlie loved “bling”, and she could make even the gaudiest sequin hat look adorable.
She was talented at so many things: cooking, crafting, writing, entertaining, and even flower arranging, just to name a few, and all of her grandkids would attest to her amazing back-scratching abilities. Charlie never met a stranger, and often made friends in line at the grocery store, pumping gas, or any other random place you can think of. She was always the first to volunteer to bring 15 side dishes to any gathering (including her amazing dressing and mac and cheese!) and she loved cooking a good “Southern” meal, often making enough to feed an army (and then have enough left-overs to freeze two or three more trays for next time!). She rarely missed an episode of Judge Judy, and would often add her own commentary on the shenanigans on the show.
While she lived in Georgia for over thirty years, she loved the Lone Star State and will be laid to rest there.
