

Mr. Ellis was born on July 22, 1931 in Philadelphia, the son of the late Jerred A. and Anna Hogan Ellis. Frank was ordained a Roman Catholic priest on May 28, 1961. He would eventually find other ways to serve the Lord when he left the priesthood to marry his wife, the late Carolyn Mauldin. Mr. Ellis was an accomplished journalist for many years, having worked in Blytheville, AR; Monroe, GA; and various newspapers in the west Georgia area. He was a charter member of Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Former civic memberships also include Kiwanis Club, Sertoma Club, and the Lion’s Club. He also volunteered with the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, the United Way, and many other organizations. He was named the 1982 Citizen of the Year for Douglas County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn, eight siblings including his identical twin Joseph, and most recently, his beloved granddaughter Elizabeth Lawler.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Brian Lawler, his grandson, Matthew Lawler; sister, Anna Dougherty and many nieces and nephews.
A rosary for Mr. Ellis will be said on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church with Father Jesús David Trujillo–Luna officiating.
Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Cheatham Hill Memorial Park
