

Mr. Frederick Thomas Ankrum, age 67, of Douglasville, GA passed away Monday, August 10, 2015. He was born October 7, 1947 in Berea, OH. Mr. Ankrum grew up in St. Petersburg, FL and graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in 1965. After high school he attended St. John’s River State College. He served in the United States Army for three years as Personnel Specialist and Unit Clerk. After leaving the Army he joined the United States Postal Service serving as Post Master in Opelousas, LA, St. Augustine, FL and Cross City, FL. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and National Association of Postmaster as an officer. He was a member of Douglasville Church of Christ.
Mr. Ankrum is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jean Ankrum and son, Frederick Thomas Ankrum, Jr. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 25 years, Vera Leathers Ankrum; son Thomas and wife Chandi Ankrum of Rio Grande, NJ; daughters Marcella and husband Richard Collins of San Antonio, TX as well as Dawn and husband Randy Minnix of St. Augustine, FL; step-sons James and wife Beate Taylor of Gulfport, FL; Christopher and wife Arin Taylor of Gulfport, FL; and Michael and wife Elyse Taylor of Montgomery, AL; step-daughter Tiffany Taylor of Davie, FL; 9 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other numerous family members.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the Rose Haven Chapel on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11:00 am with Minister Ron Bradshaw officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
