Gary Robert Abbey

Mr. Gary “Buddy” Abbey, age 63, Temple, Georgia, died peacefully Thursday, April 14, 2016 on his farm. Mr. Abbey was born on December 11, 1952, the son of Carolyn Martin Abbey and the late William Brewer Abbey. Prior to his death, Buddy was employed with the Paulding County Board of Education as a teacher. He was a member of the Tennessee Valley Working Dog Association and was a fan of Georgia Tech. He was a devoted father, and “Buddy” to everyone he met.

Survivors include two daughters, Lauren Myers of Tallapoosa and Nichole Michalke of Temple. His beloved mother, Mrs. Carolyn M. Abbey. Children by choice, Toby Thompson, Wendy Leach, and Kelly Miller; one sister, Kay Thompson of Douglasville; one brother, Glenn Abbey of Milledgeville, Ga; girlfriend, Hui Mei Hsu; former spouse and the mother of his children, Linda Lee Dickey; five grandchildren, Abbey Lee Michalke, Erin Michalke, William Myers, Kate Myers and Luke Myers; his beloved pets, Shao Xiong, Shao Long, Rommel and Budders.

Memorial services for Mr. Abbey will be conducted on Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 7 o’clock pm from the Rosehaven Chapel of Whitley – Garner Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Haralson County Animal Shelter.
