Mr. Briggs was a Master Carpenter and owned his own business. He was a member of Bright Star United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Danny L. Briggs; a grandson, Matthew Tyson; parents, John Thomas and Esther Mammen Briggs; and brothers, Allen F. Briggs and Stephen Briggs.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Briggs; his sons, Gene Crawford and wife Wanda of Powder Springs, GA, Jamey Crawford and wife Cindy of Temple, GA, Chuck Crawford and wife Stephanie of Winston, GA; daughters, Debbie Briggs Melton and husband Joe of Snellville, GA, Diana Briggs Forgety and husband Chad of Rogersville, TN; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Briggs will be cremated and the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, May 25, 2014 from 3-4 PM with his Memorial service following at 4:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. Dr Thom Shores and Rev. Dr. Jamie Jenkins officiating.
