Gertrude was born October 12, 1946 in Jeremie, Haiti, the daughter of the late Violette (Pierre-Louis). She had worked for many years in the healthcare industry as a Certified Nursing Assistant prior to her retirement from Baptist Hospital in Miami, Florida. To know her was to love her. Her family and friends will always remember her sweet, caring, loving spirit. Gertrude enjoyed being in the kitchen, preparing great meals for her family. She had a love for music and she was Catholic by Faith.
She is survived by her husband, Jean Serge Lafontant of forty seven years, daughters, Lisa Lafontant, Gaetane Lafontant and Sergia Lafontant; grandchildren, Sarai, Elijah, Chloe, and Violette.
A visitation for Gertrude will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home, 8640 Rose Ave, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
Following the visitation and in accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated.
