Bonnie Gopal Echols, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend was promoted to glory Monday April 20, 2026. He was a devoted husband to Lila Marie Echols for 67 years, a loving father of four children, Deidra Willis, Ben Echols, Bonnie Self and Ginny Young, grandfather to 11, great-grandfather to 4, and a cherished brother. Gopal was deeply loved by his family and friends.
He was a proud United States Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. He wore his Navy hat with pride, reflecting his lifelong love for his country and fellow veterans. He was a man of deep faith; he loved to share Jesus with everyone. His family and friends will always remember the many stories of his life’s adventures and experiences.
Gopal dedicated many years of service to others. He worked for the United States Postal Service and retired after 30 years. Later, he served over 20 years with the Douglas County Sheriff Department as a bailiff. In his free time, he loved playing golf and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
Gopal will be remembered for his faith, patriotism, hard work, and love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion and strength, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends at Heritage Baptist Church on Thursday, April 30 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by funeral services at 12:00 pm and interment at Rosehaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to Heritage Baptist Church https://www.hbcdg.org/give/
