Mrs. Helen Ann McKennon, age 91, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Friday, March 9, 2018. She was born August 1, 1926 in Red Land, South Dakota. Mrs. McKennon was a graduate of St. Luke’s School for Nurses in Duluth, Minnesota and worked as a registered nurse. Over the years, she volunteered countless hours to multiple organizations, including the Loving Hand Ministries in Douglas County. She volunteered with the Family Services during the Vietnam War, receiving many awards for assisting the family members who lost loved ones during combat. She proudly served as a poll worker with the Douglas County Elections, serving at several different precincts. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Eastern Star in Douglasville, as well as Florida and Alabama. Mrs. McKennon was a member of the Douglasville First United Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ralph McKennon; her parents, John and Beulah Sejnoha of Nashwauk, Minnesota; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane (Leroy) Waara of Jacksonville, Florida and Shirley (R. T.) Toliver of Farmington, New Mexico; and a brother, Jarvis “Darby” Sejnoha of Nashwauk, Minnesota.
She is survived by her son, William “Bill” (Connie) McKennon of Douglasville, Georgia; grandchildren, Jason McKennon and Katherine Ford of Smyrna, Georgia, Kathryn McKennon and Travis Beckom of Douglasville, Georgia; great-grandchild, Payton McKennon of Temple, Georgia; sister-in-law, Ruth Sejnoha of Nashwauk, Minnesota; nieces, Jonnie (Mike) Daly of Nashwauk, Minnesota, DeeAnn Toliver and Bill McNicholas of Farmington, New Mexico, Sally (Mike) Guentzel of Lake Elmo, Minnesota and Sue (Guy) Haaland of Elbert Lea, Minnesota; as well as numerous other family members.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel.
