Mrs. Hilda L. Gwaltney

Mrs. Hilda L. Gwaltney, age 94, of Winston, GA passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015. She was born August 28, 1921 in Candler, North Carolina. Mrs. Gwaltney taught Sunday School since she was a teenager, giving it up about four years ago. She was an avid quilter, giving most of them away to family and friends. She enjoyed reading, especially her scriptures, and was a talented poet and writer. Hilda was a huge Braves fan, even in their bad years.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Joseph M. Gwaltney Jr.; daughter Diane Gwaltney Bowen ;her parents Arthur H. and Emma R. Lance; three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her son Joseph M. Gwaltney III and wife Edie; daughter Celia Gwaltney Bazemore and husband Earl, daughter Kim Gwaltney; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 5 until 7 o’clock pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 2 o’clock pm with Preachers Tom Kaplan and Kevin Maples officiating.
