

Mr. Hubert Smithey Turner, age 70, of Douglasville, GA passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015. He was born August 6, 1944 in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Turner was a Veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army. He was a retired truck driver having been a trucker for over 40 years; also drove a taxi in the mid-60s in Atlanta and was a Marta bus driver in Atlanta. He sold insurance for Liberty National Life during the 70s. In the early 70s, Mr. Turner moved to Lithia Springs. Mr. Turner loved to watch TV and was a fan of Matlock, NCIS, Perry Mason and Bonanza. He loved country music, especially enjoying the Grand Ole Opry. He enjoyed fishing; building and collecting model cars; and decorating for Christmas. He decorated his yard with over 4000 Christmas lights each year. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #590 F&AM in Hapeville, GA and he was Baptist.
Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Minnie Ryder Turner; brother, Archie Turner; sister, Mae Turner; and wife, Carol Turner.
He is survived by his fiancé, Janice Brannan; children, Smittie Turner, Robin Hesters, Kevin Brannan and wife Maggie, Ryan Brannan and wife Amy; brothers, Joe Turner and George Turner; sister, Evelyn Turner; grandchildren, Krissy Turner, Joshua Turner and wife Niki, Gavin Green, Jennifer Ebbitt and husband Tim, Dallas Hesters and husband Austin Leatherwood, Wesley Brannan, Kaitlyn Brannan, Morgan Brannan and Jayme Pitts; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Reverend Fred Blalock officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
