Ida Ruth Wright

Ida Ruth Wright of Douglasville, GA passed away on August 21 following a stroke. She was born in Douglasville on December 3, 1939 and was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Wright, sister, Sarah Roper, and brothers Ray Wright and Frank Wright. She was educated in Douglas County public schools and received degrees from LaGrange College and UGA. Ruth enjoyed a 40 year long career with DeKalb County School System.

Ruth was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Douglasville, an active member of Adventurers SS Class, United Methodist Women, Alpha Delta Kappa Women Educators Sorority, Amakanasta Garden Club and a faithful volunteer at Douglasville Cultural Arts Council.

Following her retirement, Ruth enjoyed extensive traveling with her sister, Betty.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Noland of Douglasville and sister-in-law Joy Wright of Tustin, CA; 11 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Douglasville First United Methodist Church with Rev John Pinson presiding.
