

Born and raised with a sense of curiosity and service, Jim carried those qualities throughout his life. As a young man, he was a Cub Scout and he also participated in JROTC during high school which instilled in him values of discipline, teamwork, and integrity that would guide him for years to come.
Jim dedicated 34 years of his professional life to Delta Air Lines, where he worked primarily as a Fuel Service Agent and later as a Ramp Agent. He retired in 2001, leaving behind a career marked by dedication and reliability. Jim found fellowship and community at Morningside Presbyterian Church in Atlanta.
Outside of work, Jim had a lifelong fascination with transportation and history. He was especially passionate about trains and railroad history, and he also nurtured a deep interest in planes and military aviation. These passions reflected his keen eye for detail, love of learning, and appreciation for the ways in which innovation shaped the world.
Jim will be remembered for his quiet dedication, his loyalty, and his deep interests that he shared with those around him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Brock Barclay; children, Melanie Barclay (Richard Schwartz), David Barclay (Kelly) and Karen Barclay (Rich Fisher); grandchildren, Tyler, Summer, Madie, Luke, Ray, Lily, Adeline, Anniston and Josie as well as 6 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday August 20, 2025 at 11:00 am. Preacher Lamar Rackley will officiate.
