Katherine “Katie” Halstead Slim, of Newnan, Georgia, formerly of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021. She was born July 16, 1987 in Atlanta, Georgia. Known for her dazzling personality, Katie was often referred to as a “shooting star”. She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to tell jokes and was a talented impersonator. In her spare time, Katie loved to cook and had a natural talent for cooking without using recipes. She was the restaurant manager at The Half Shell in Newnan. Katie had a beautiful singing voice, which often was described as being perfect pitch.
Those left to cherish her memory are her father, David H. Slim; her mother, Lynne H. Slim; two children, Evan and Willow; brother, William Slim; uncles, Jeff Hollister and Andrew Slim; aunt, Kathleen “Kathy” Ruffino-Dearden; cousins, Beth, Rebecca, Rachel, Michael, Kevin and Dylan; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Katie’s family will receive friends Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 6:00pm – 7:00pm with a memorial service following at 7:00pm at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, with Pastor Mike Bovington officiating. Temperature checks and masks will be required for those in attendance. Note: No food is requested in accordance with COVID precautions, please.
