Lawrence M. Connors

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Michael Connors and Theresa McMahon Connors.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice Patricia Harte Connors, his children Karen Connors Richard (John), Larry Connors, Kevin Connors, and Theresa Connors, and grandchildren Alexandra Connors, Michael Connors, Connor Richard, and Colin Richard.

A native of Astoria, Queens, New York, Larry proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War, after which he built a successful 40+ year career in airline maintenance. He retired from Eastern Airlines as General Foreman, Avionics, in 1991.

An active member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Lithia Springs, GA, Larry was a charter member of the St. John Vianney Council. He gave unsparingly of his time to the church and numerous charities and causes, including veterans’ organizations, Douglas County Hospital, MedShare, and St. Francis Table.

Larry was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a Past Grand Knight of St. John Vianney Council 12580, as well as Past Faithful Navigator, Mother Teresa Assembly 2562.

In 2011, Larry was named Knight of the Year for the state of Georgia, representing Council 12580.

Larry enjoyed annual trips to Ireland, painting classes and poker games at Woodie Fite Senior Center, golfing and ROMEO breakfasts with his buddies.

He will be remembered for his warmth and good humor, and – especially - for his unwavering love of family, friends, church and country. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday, February 16, 2015 from 2:00 pm – 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St John Vianney Catholic Church1920 Skyview Dr Lithia Springs, GA 30122. Interment will follow at 1:30PM, Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Georgia National Cemetery Canton, GA.
