Luther Thomas “L.T./Luke” Chandler, Jr., of Douglasville, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2023. He was born in Carroll County, Georgia in August of 1939 and grew up in Tallapoosa, Georgia. L.T. was one of eleven children and served his country in the US Navy for four years. While in the Navy L.T. was stationed in San Diego and served 14 months in Guam. L.T. was married to his devoted wife, Katherine McCorkle Chandler for 58 years and was also a devoted father and grandfather to his two daughters and three grandchildren and was always so proud of their accomplishments. L.T. retired from Graphic Solutions as a Supervisor after a lifelong career in the printing business and was also an exceptional carpenter. L.T. loved the outdoors that included deer hunting, maintaining his “big yard”, gardening vegetables, and always helped his wife, Katherine, with her beautiful flowers. L.T loved to share his vegetables that he grew with family and friends and would give away more than he would keep. L.T will be truly missed by his family and friends and was a God-fearing man who loved his family dearly.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Luther Thomas, and Elizabeth Bell (Clackum) Chandler, Sr.; sisters, Bobbie Sachetinni and Helen Brickle; brothers, Billy Chandler, Ervin Chandler, Fred Chandler and John W. Chandler as well as one precious niece Carol Ann McCorkle and three precious nephews, Mark Chandler, Tony Chandler and Jim Thompson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 58 years, Katherine (McCorkle) Chandler; daughters, Kim Pair (Alan) and Jennifer Chandler; sisters, Mary Thompson (Douglas), Pat Lehman (Larry), and Sue Mize; brother, Donnie Chandler; grandchildren, Luke Pair, Victoria (Jon Michael) West, Ashley Pair; and loved nieces and nephews on both sides of the family; as well as numerous other family members and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, 12:00 until 2:00 pm with funeral service following led by Pastor Steven Greene in the Rosehaven Chapel. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are John Chandler, Floyd Cox, Allen Lokey, Julian McCorkle, Jr., Wain Robbins and J.R. Smith.
