Marion Garrett, age 84, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, July 11, 2022. A native of Douglas County, Marion was born on May 18, 1938 in Lithia Springs, Georgia. He was the owner of Garrett Sand Company for over 50 years, as well as the founder and owner of Sand-Stone, Inc. along with his stepsons, Scott Hunt and Byron Hunt. Marion served his community and the county as a Douglas County Commissioner from 1976 until 1984.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Earl and Molly Jewell (Davis) Garrett.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 38 years, Jean Garrett; stepsons, Byron Hunt and wife Nancy, and Scott Hunt and wife, Kristie; brother, Doyle Garrett and wife Rita of Daphne, Alabama; four grandchildren, Rachel Hunt, Phillip Hunt, Amanda Hunt Nolan and husband Ryan, Caroline Hunt; and great-grandchild, Anderson Elizabeth Nolan.
A gathering of friends and family for Marion will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home, 8640 Rose Ave, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Marion's memory be made to a charity of your choice.
