

Mildred Rooks Webb, 85, of Marietta and formerly Douglas County, died peacefully on September 6, 2015 surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Webb was born to Alma Parris Rooks and F.M. Rooks and grew up near Bill Arp, GA. Husband, Hugh W. Webb, and daughter, Karen Webb Cooper preceded her to heaven. She was also predeceased by her parents and by a brother, James Rooks.
She is survived by children Gary & Carleen Webb of Lawrenceville, Kathryn and Lew Jansen of Marietta, and son-in-law Byron Cooper of Marietta.
Additional survivors include grandchildren Michelle and Tim Henschel, Melanie & Keith Simington, David & Allison Webb, Erin & Jeremy Lee, Mary Kathryn & Trevor McSwain, Elizabeth McMahon, and Alan & Michelle McMahon, and 12 great grandchildren: Tyler and Maya Henschel; Colin, Chase and Liam Simington; Ceci, Carlee and Catie Webb; Abigail, Garrison and Jeremiah Lee; and Murphy McSwain.
Mrs. Webb loved God and was a fierce protector and advocate of family and friends. A homemaker and “Other Mother” to many, she loved having her home filled with family. They always looked forward to her chocolate cake and homemade biscuits. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Bible Studies both formally and informally to all ages. Mrs. Webb was a “baby whisperer” and could often be heard singing softly, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” as she rocked the babies. She welcomed those of other faiths into her home, willing to listen to them, if they would listen to her.
Mrs. Webb was a past member of Prays Mill Baptist Church, and most recently a member of Macland Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Webb will be conducted on Wednesday September 9, 2015 at 2 p.m. from the Rosehaven Chapel of Whitley-Garner Funeral Home with Rev. Johnathan Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosehaven Memorial Park.
