Russ gave 24 years of the highest caliber of service to the Georgia Army National Guard/US Army, retiring as a Sergeant First Class of the 277th Maintenance Company.
Born in Augusta, but a true son of Atlanta. After residing in Dekalb, he moved to Conyers, where he thrived as a shortstop and pitcher for the Rockdale County High School baseball team. He later called Douglasville home, living there for over 35 years. He was an avid sports fan, supporting the Braves and Falcons from his youngest years. He especially loved and supported the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and enjoyed heading downtown to Bobby Dodd stadium to cheer on the squad, proudly yelling "To HELL with georgia!"
A gearhead and Ford aficionado, he could be seen in his trusty F-150, or one of his beloved Mustangs. With his immense knowledge and skills, could not only help fix your brakes, but repair anything you could throw at him. Always one to help his neighbors, friends, and family with anything he could, even if he had to teach himself how to do it first.
He loved to cook, with a knack for flipping the perfect omelette every time. Always had a fresh pot of coffee ready, at least until it was time for some of his favorite little pleasures in life — Mexican food (better order the large queso!) and an ice cold beer.
Music lover of all kinds, with an affinity for the groove. If it made you move, he liked it. As a Trance/Progressive House/Breaks/many other genre-covering DJ, he released an impressive 365 mixes in his current series "The Verified Sessions" on YouTube.
Russ is survived by his mother Mary, his daughter Jessica (Collin), his son Cody (Jennifer), his granddaughter Charlotte, his brothers Richard (Wanda), Bill, and many nieces, nephews, and more.
In his words, "it's all good — always."
In accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated. Celebration of Life details will be shared with family members privately.
Whitley Garner at Rosehaven is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements of Russ Nobles.
