Virginia Mae Styles

She was born in Gainesville, GA on November 20, 1929 to Chester Lee and Eddie Mae Dorsey Hulsey. Raised in Buford, GA, she graduated from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. Virginia met Robert Monroe Styles, her husband of 61 years, when she moved to Douglasville to teach Home Economics at Douglas County High School. They were married on August 12, 1951 in Buford, GA.

Virginia was a well-loved kindergarten teacher at First Baptist Church of Douglasville for 24 years. After her retirement, she continued to do volunteer work to benefit the education of young children and was a loving presence in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Virginia was a faithful member of the Hope II Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Douglasville. She enjoyed planning their Christmas Luncheon each year.

She is survived by her children, Michael Styles (Leslie) of Savannah, GA, Nancy McLendon of Villa Rica GA, Tricia McLendon (Joe) of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren, James Harden (Colleen), Chris McLendon, Michael Brandon Styles (Tiffany), Willem Styles (Usha Rahn), Liam Styles, Emily Anderson, Jeff Anderson (Lacy), Alex McLendon; great-grandchildren, Luke Harden, Charlotte Harden, DJ Holsey, Cameron Hulsey, Oliver Anderson, Lewis Anderson and Elodie Styles.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Whitley Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The graveside service will follow in the Douglasville City Cemetery with Sister Anna Walker officiating.
