On June 13, 2023 at age 73, Barbara S. McLoughlin, treasured wife of Bruce McLoughlin for 51 years and cherished daughter of Floyd and Mary Baker, joined her parents and brother, Philip Baker, in their everlasting rest. Having grown up in Columbus, Barb graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in 1968, where she met the love of her life, Bruce. Defying the medical diagnoses that she wouldn’t live past 30 and would never have children, Barb would profess that her greatest accomplishments in life were the gift of her two daughters and her opportunity to raise her family held together closely by the love that she shared. During their early years of marriage, Barb was tasked with holding down the fort while Bruce was traveling and developing apartment projects throughout Ohio. In her later years, Barb founded Global Ostrich, imported ostrich from Africa, and shipped premium breeding stock throughout the USA and South America.
Barb said that her greatest joys in life were watching her children and grandchildren grow, and spending quality time with the many people she was blessed to call family and friends. In addition to her husband Bruce, Barb is survived by her children, Tara (Ed) Kunzelman and Colleen (Jon) Reynolds; grandchildren, Nolan and Joel Kunzelman; Tyler, McKenna, and Jacob Reynolds along with siblings Sally (John) Imes, Kathleen (Jeff) Creamer and Susan Baker. Barb will be remembered for her heart of gold, strength of character, sage advice and wisdom, an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up any room by the countless people whose lives she so meaningfully touched.
