Brian M Becher

Dr. Brian M. Becher, retired OB/GYN at Riverside Methodist Hospital, died on June 5, 2022. He was a graduate of Bishop Watterson High School. He earned a Bachelor of Physics, and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from The Ohio State University and a M.D. from the University of Illinois. He was a Postdoc and Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois, an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan, and an OB/GYN at Riverside Methodist Hospital where he delivered over 3,700 babies.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Ralph J. Becher, DVM and Vera Foreman Becher, RN of Upper Arlington, OH; 2 brothers, Ralph Becher, Jr., and William Becher; and a sister, Nancy Becher Wardwell. He is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Rhoda McShane Becher; 2 sons, Brian Joseph (B.J.) and Michael McShane Becher, a daughter-in-law Sarah McDaniel Becher, and 3 very special granddaughters, Mia Juliette, Lyla Marie, and Callie Renee Becher all of Dublin, OH. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Bonnie Becher Anderson of Moorestown, N.J. and Sherry Becher Gerlach of Indian River, Michigan and a brother-in-law, Brad Gerlach, also of Indian River, MI.

Brian was very talented in many ways. Over the years, he remodeled the house in Dublin. After retiring, he designed, served as General Contractor, and helped build a vacation house on Lake Keowee in Seneca, S.C. He also was an avid landscaper and gardener and even as he was quite ill asked our daughter-in-law to plant some tomatoes and peppers for him. He also greatly enjoyed playing with our wonderful granddaughters. Making monkey bread and cookies with LOTS of icing and sprinkles was always a fun time. They shared a “joke” about ‘liking pickles!” which brought lots of "NOOOOOs". The world was a better place because of him. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 on Tuesday, June 21, at SCHOEDINGER DUBLIN, 5980 Perimeter Drive. Dublin, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Sierra Club Foundation, Feeding America, or a charity of your choice.
