Dr. Carol Lee Roshetko Clinton – wife, mom, physician, friend, entrepreneur, author, podcaster, foodie, carer, reader, traveler, and community leader – gracefully passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 24, 2023. With grit and grace, Carol battled ovarian cancer for nearly 20 years.
Carol had a lively childhood in Northfield, Ohio with her 7 siblings and many cousins who lived nearby. She won her 7th-grade science fair project about sunscreen – how fitting. Carol attended Nordonia High School, graduating in 1981. She spoke fondly about spending time outdoors, being a cheerleader, working at the local ice cream parlor, and visiting her Granny in Alabama in the summertime.
In 1985, Carol and Chris met and from there the rest is history. She quickly convinced him to immigrate from Ireland to the United States, and their life together began.
Carol attended The Ohio State University for her undergraduate degree (1986) and medical school (1990), where she made lifelong friendships. Often, she told stories of her residence, the Stadium Dorm, and the community that uplifted her. She was proud to be a Buckeye. OH-IO.
Saving countless lives, Carol was an emergency medicine physician in Columbus, Ohio, and Hilton Head, South Carolina. She impacted her patients and colleagues by providing the best possible care all while starting a young family. Evelyn arrived first in 1992, followed by Owen in 1995, and finally Maeve in 1999.
When initially diagnosed in 2005, Carol had just transitioned her discipline to aesthetic medicine and opened Timeless Skin Solutions. Her prognosis was poor, and she was not expected to survive more than 5 years. However, her spirit remained fierce, and her oncology team helped her fight her disease aggressively for much longer. What she has accomplished in that time is insurmountable.
When interviewed for a magazine, Carol was asked what her life “top 10” were, she answered family and friends, the Entrepreneur Organization (EO), Timeless Skin Solutions, Girls with Gears, the Dublin Irish Festival, traveling the world, a good belly laugh, podcasting, her backyard pool, and memories of her children growing up.
As a traveler, Carol visited too many places to count. Some of her favorites included Ireland, Montana, Arizona, Kenya, Geneva, and the Galapagos. She had a zest for worldly experiences, but more importantly, she enjoyed those who traveled alongside her.
Carol is survived by her devoted husband Christopher J. Clinton and their three children Evelyn, Owen, and Maeve (Benjamin Black). She is predeceased by her father Paul Roshetko, mother Dannie Roshetko, mother-in-law Marie Clinton, and sister Dannie Capuano.
She is loved and remembered by her siblings Barbara Salter, Cathy (Richard) Tylka, Paul Roshetko, Mark Roshetko, Mary (Art) Lutheran, Michelle Roshetko, and Tom Capuano as well as all 24 of her nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please join us in donating to the Dr. Carol Lee Clinton Emergency Medicine Career Accelerator Endowed Fund in her honor.
In her last hours, she expressed it was her desire to support early to mid-career faculty with as many resources as possible with a focus on supporting underrepresented folks in the medicine space. She was especially passionate about this endeavor. This fund is going to impact the futures of numerous physicians in perpetuity. Carol will leave a lasting legacy in a place that meant so much to her.
