Christine A. Clay, lovingly known as Chris, passed away on September 2, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and a deep love for her family and life’s many wonders. Chris was born on February 26, 1953, to the late Leo H. Grom and Bonnie M. (Flowers) Malone. She was also predeceased by her brother, Michael L. Grom.
Chris is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph R. Clay, and their cherished son, Alexander M. Clay. She leaves behind her brother, Stephen M. (Brenda) Grom; a host of beloved nieces and nephews, including Anne Grom Cloonan, Michael D. Grom, Stephen C. (Christie) Grom, and Casey Grom; and sister-in-law, Betty Grom.
Chris was a woman of boundless affection, with a deep appreciation for every kind of flower and animal. Her passion for life extended to her love of children, especially babies, and her joy in traveling. She cherished her adventures around the world, from marveling at the terracotta warriors and the Beijing Symphony Orchestra in China to exploring nearly every island in the Caribbean. A skilled hostess, Chris loved to entertain family and friends, always serving up more food than was possible to eat. Halloween was her favorite holiday, and she delighted in celebrating it with enthusiasm (and the occasional ghostly animatronic). She loved books, and was an avid reader.
Her warmth, kindness, and genuine love for everything around her will be profoundly missed by her family, who adored her deeply.
