

David Michael (Mike) Strapp, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 18, 2025. He was born on February 28, 1945, in Columbus, OH, to Thomas and Edna Strapp. Mike was a proud graduate of Linden McKinley High School class of 1962, where he helped lead his high school basketball team to a city championship. He later earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University, where he was also a member of the ROTC.
Mike proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Army, after which he dedicated 29 years of his career to Ross Labs (Abbott Nutrition), retiring in 1999. Following retirement, he continued to share his expertise by working as a tax preparer for many years.
Mike was known for his dedication to his family and his remarkable achievements, including being honored as Father of the Year and Grandfather of the Year. He was also an active member of his local Masonic Lodge, Capital City lodge #656.
A passionate golfer, Mike had his first hole-in-one at just 12 years old. His love for the game remained a lifelong passion.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Edna Strapp, his brother Jack Strapp, and his late wife Kathryn Strapp. He is survived by his loving wife Karla Strapp, daughters Stacey (Brian Walker) Strapp and Amy Strapp, Keisha (Frank) Azbell, Son John "Jr" (Kayla Lewis) Irwin, and his beloved grandchildren Matthew Gardner, Avery and Abigail Azbell. Mike is also survived by his sister Sue (Mike Jennings) Parsons, Mother-in-law Janet Smith, and nephews Shawn Huntzinger, Dan Strapp, Alex (Alyce) Strapp, and Rene Strapp.
The family will receive friends for a viewing on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Dr, Dublin, OH. A service will follow immediately at 6:00 PM.
Mike will be deeply missed by his family and friends, whose lives he touched with love, humor, and generosity.
