Engwall A Olson III

Engwall Andrew Olson III (Andy), age 86, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2023. Andy was a graduate from the University of Washington (Business Administration), where he was enrolled in the Naval ROTC program and was also a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, serving as its President for two years. Andy worked all four years while attending college, demonstrating at an early age a tireless work ethic. Following college, Andy began a 24-year career in the US Navy Supply Corps, eventually retiring as a Captain. Andy’s military service saw him posted in more 10 different locations (Athens, GA; San Diego, CA; Oakland, CA; Honolulu, HI; Richmond, VA; Vietnam; Stuttgart, Germany; Alexandria, VA; Newport, RI; Charleston, SC) and aboard two different Naval ships (USS Hanson, USS Sierra). While in the Navy, Andy earned his MBA through George Washington University. Andy completed his professional career with several civilian firms, including CACI, Advanced Development International, Coopers & Lybrand and Price Waterhouse Coopers. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Janice Olson; daughter, Laurie (Greg Graybill) Elsass; son, Erik (Susan) Olson; grandchildren, Carter, Evan, Jack and Sarah; brother, Jack (Marylin) Olson; and nephew, Jon Olson. Andy is preceded in death by his parents, Engwall and Eloise Olson and grandson, Reid Elsass. Family was a top priority for Andy, serving as a baseball, softball and basketball coach for his children. Andy also was a devoted and active man of faith, serving as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and church planter for over 40 years. Andy was a patriot and a true man of faith.
