Gene was born on September 7, 1943, in East Tawas, Michigan, to the late Clarence E. Curry and Mildred M. Curry (Schneider). He graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1961 and went on to attend Michigan State University. During his sophomore year he married his high school sweetheart Ginny.
Following his education, Gene and Ginny moved to Columbus where he enjoyed a 30-year career with Ross Laboratories.
Before, during, and after retirement, you could usually find Gene on the golf course. When he wasn’t golfing, his greatest joy was spending time with family, especially entertaining his grandchildren. He also loved traveling the world with Ginny. At home, there was rarely a moment when Gene wasn’t enjoying his favorite country music while hanging out with his *very* spoiled dog.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette (Les) Warner; his brother, Marvin (Jan) Curry; and his sister, Linda (Jim) Fritz.
He is survived by his wife, Ginny; his son, Dean (Nan) Curry; and his daughter, Dawn Scheurle. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Amanda (Mike) Stoll, Alec (Rachel) Scheurle, and Lauren Scheurle (Katelyn Wessling), as well as his big-hearted, four-legged companion, Reagan, and countless friends.
Funeral services will be held on February 28, 2026, at 12pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 5475 Brand Road, Dublin, Ohio. Pastor John Morris will officiate, and the interment will be in the church columbarium. There will be a gathering immediately following the service from 1 to 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gene’s honor to the Mayo Clinic (https://give.mayoclinic.org/campaign/740556/donate) or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (https://dogood.t2t.org/give/320847).
