

Harry D. Post, age 92, of Dublin, Ohio, peacefully passed away on January 12, 2025. Harry was born on October 23, 1932, in Paterson, New Jersey. He was the son of Charles and Geneieve Post. First born of seven children in the family.
When Harry was born, he was named after his grandfather on his father’s side and was the apple of his grandmother’s eye. He grew up between Paterson and Midland Park, NJ. The Salvation Army was an integral part of his life.
At Eastside High School in Paterson, NJ, as a junior, he captained his state champion Paterson cross country team. In his senior year, he won League Championship and placed second in the state championship for a 4:38 mile.
In 1952, He joined the Air Force at 20 years old and was stationed in Florida and Fire Island, Alaska, as a radar operator of the early warning system sending jets out after bogies. Buddies of his taught him poker and drinking 7 & 7s. He continued that fun fact through his long life.
On the GI Bill, He attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey for accounting and graduated cum laude with honors. He passed the CPA all four parts in one sitting.
Harry started his career at AEP in NYC in the accounting department then soon transferred to North Canton, Ohio, for a special project. Neighbors, the Ramseys, became lifelong friends. Kevin Ramsey and Harry had weekends of competitive but friendly ping pong tournaments that lasted hours. He was transferred back to AEP in NYC and resided in Freehold Township, NJ. He spent 18 memorable years with Ted & Shirley Bell and family. He saw and felt the community need to work on the school board for four years and became Board President. In the late 1970s, Harry was promoted with AEP from accounting Manager to Comptroller. In June 1980, he transferred to Columbus, Ohio, and was promoted to Vice President over Accounting & Financial Operations at Columbus & Southern Power Company-AEP. In 1995, he retired his position from the company that gave him a memorable lifelong career and friendships.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy (DePree) Post; son Harry (Douglas) Post and his wife. Donna; daughter Lori Hutchison and her husband, Brian; grandson Cory Hutchison and his wife, Juliet; and great-grandchildren John, Abi and Benjamin; granddaughter Kellilyn Gentile and her husband, Nick. He is preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
Harry was a devoted, loving, giving unselfish husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness from charitable work and pledges done throughout the Columbus, Ohio, community. Qualities that shaped and defined him that he will most be remembered for include giving his strengths, time and love to the family, quick wit and sense of humor, deep passion for his companion dogs, golf, landscape flowers and birds.
Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Red Cross.
