Jane Victoria (Coffin) Zimmer of Dublin, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 9, 2026, at the age of 86. Born in Dedham, Massachusetts, in 1939, she spent childhood summers on Cape Cod and looked back fondly on those years vacationing in a cottage her father built, racing sailboats and teaching sailing. After attending Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, and Ursuline College in Cleveland, she served as a registered dietitian at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron and later at the Central Ohio Dialysis Center in Columbus.
Jane was a dedicated volunteer, serving on many charitable boards including Stan Hywet Hall and the Junior League of Akron, the Columbus Zoo, Dublin Methodist Hospital and the Memorial Tournament.
Jane’s life-long love of music was wholehearted – playing piano, ukulele (when the mood was just right) and listening to classical music at high volumes during interminable car rides. During her recent years at Bristol Senior Living, this enduring love of music had her singing cheerily to old standards to which she'd proudly inform you that she knew ALL the words, as well as becoming a boisterous instigator of singalong sessions. Jane’s enthusiastic approach to music appreciation accompanied her move to Ganzhorn Suites, where her participation in weekly tuneful activities was well documented.
Jane loved jigsaw puzzles, too, as well as card games, a well-timed cutting remark, the Ohio State Buckeyes, every dog she ever met, country club life, fancy cruises, a “very dry Beefeater martini on the rocks with an olive” and, of course, her two daughters. Another passion was knitting. Sure, she’d regale you with tales of her expertise, but she backed this up with beautiful creations – at last count she owned 93 self-knit sweaters. (Her daughters regret never taking up the craft.)
Jane is preceded in death by husband of 30 years, David Zimmer, and parents Charlie and Mae Coffin. She is survived by daughters Rebecca Zimmer (Rudy Avalos) and Jennifer (Ray) DiRossi plus grandchildren Allison and Alex DiRossi, as well as loyal grand-dog Oliver DiRossi.
A memorial gathering will be held at The Country Club at Muirfield, Village, 8715 Muirfield Dr., Dublin, Ohio 43017 on Saturday, February 28, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The family invites friends to drop by and share memories and celebrate a life well-lived.
