

Jean E. Benthal, aged 75, passed away at her home in Plain City, Ohio, on Friday, February 9, 2024. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 11, 1949, to the late Bernadine Bright Miller and Edward Bright, step-father Louis Miller. Widow of Burvis Benthal. She is survived by her daughter Lynne (David) and her beloved grandchildren Elizabeth and Ryan. She was the youngest of two siblings, preceded in death by her sister Shirley Moses (late husband, Joseph) and is survived by her brother William Bright (late wife, Maureen). She is survived by step-brother Kenneth Miller (Diane) and preceded in death by step-brother Arthur Miller (Opal), step-sisters Shirley Sigouin (late husband, Bob) and Marilyn Harris. She is survived by nephews Joseph Moses (Laurie), Kevin Bright (Michelle), Eric Bright (Sabrina), niece Susan Bright, and preceded in death by nephew Paul Bright. She is also survived by dear great nephews and nieces.
Jean never met a stranger, always striking up conversation, laughing and joking. She loved to socialize with friends whether playing trivia, bingo, scrabble, euchre, mahjong or enjoying a glass of wine. She cherished her friendship of 50 years with Carol Necker and more recently with her beloved friends in Jerome Village. She loved to travel, spend time in Florida and was always up for an adventure. But most of all, Jean loved spending time with family and especially with her grandchildren Elizabeth and Ryan, who were her greatest joy.
Services will be held on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2024, at ST. MALACHY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 14115 East 14 Mile Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan, beginning with in-state at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, Holy Trinity Mausoleum, Clinton Township, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of her memory to the American Cancer Society.
