

Joe leaves behind his three children Ryan Werstuik (his wife Wendy); of Singapore; Leigh Young (her spouse, Mitch) of Pittsburgh Pa; Erin Horton (her spouse, Ray Horton) of Murray Ky. Joe was the proud granddad to Spencer and Julian Werstuik; Ainsleigh, Westin, Channing and Brooks Young and Emersyn and Avery Horton.
He is survived by the love of his life, Karen Garrity and her daughter, Sarah. Joe is also survived by his older brother Jordan Burick and his wife Connie and their children Joseph Burick, Beth Burick Whidden, Debbie Burick Barbour and Vickie Burick of Maryland He is also survived by his older sister Lorraine Nicely and her children Paula Sloop, Ronald Nicely and Brian Nicely of North Carolina. Also left to mourn his loss are the many grandchildren of Jordan and Lorraine.
Also left to miss Joe are his special aunts, Stella Sacket and Irene Goodman of Greensburg, PA.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Werstuik and Margaret Bonar Werstuik and his younger brother, Edward Werstuik.
Joe was surrounded by a legion of friends both in Central Ohio and in Western Pennsylvania. He will be greatly missed by the St. Joan of Arc Men’s Club and the All Saints Men’s Ministry. Also left to mourn his loss are his many close friends from I’ll Mannered Brewing Company, Tuesday Trivia Night, the Euchre Group, Powell Village Winery, Monday Night Wing Night and the Men’s Golf League. Some of his closest and dearest friends include Dan and Julie Renftle, Frank, and Jean Bobel, Megan Bobel, Robin and Kevin Mitchell, Heidi and Fred Dittman, Noel and Marty Johnson, Rick Biederman and Elizabeth Speakman.
Joe was an Business Consultant for CGI International and been with them for over 10 years. He will be missed by his CGI work colleagues and those at his last assignment at the State of Ohio Medicaid Services.
Joe was a true gentleman and a kind hearted soul. He thought the best in everyone and disliked no one. He had a kind word and warm shoulder in times of pain, and an infectious laugh in times of happiness. He was always at the ready with his red tool bag to help someone in need. He thought of others first and himself last. He will always be remembered for his love of the Steelers and his Pittsburgh accent. He loved to play golf, frequent the local wineries and brew pubs with Karen and traverse Central Ohio in the black and gold Miata. Joe loved to take in golf on television and watch action thrillers with his dogs, Bailey and Jasper and until recently, his special border collie Ginger, by his side and on his recliner.
In the end, Joe wanted nothing more in life than to be a loving spouse, father, granddad and friend which he did with fervor and enthusiasm. He will be greatly missed by all who crossed his path.
Visitation will be from 4-8PM at Schoedinger Funeral Home on Perimeter Drive in Dublin, Ohio on July 27th. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11AM on Thursday, July 28th at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Powell, Ohio. Mourners are asked to meet at St Joan prior to the mass. A luncheon reception will follow the mass at St. Joan. An Irish toast to Joe will take place following the luncheon at I’ll Mannered Brewing Company at 38 Grace Drive Powell, Ohio. Joe will be interred at St. Vincent College Cemetery next to his parents and brother at a future date. He will forever be home, overlooking the beautiful Allegheny Mountains, the Church of St. Vincent’s, the Arnold Palmer Golf Course and the Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp.
