

Joyce L. Bollinger was born in Sandusky, Ohio, on December 5, 1927 to the late Harold and Nellie Belle (Christmas) Cogswell. She died in Dublin, Ohio, on March 3, 2024. She graduated from Painesville Harvey High School in 1946 and then attended Bowling Green State University in 1947.
Joyce was a lifetime homemaker until her family was raised when she went to work as assistant to the Director of the Putnam County Migrant Education Program in Ottawa, Ohio. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa, the Leesburg United Methodist Church in Leesburg, FL, and Indian Run Methodist Church in Dublin, Ohio. At her first two churches, she sang in the choir. She was a long-time member of The Order of the Eastern Star, served as Worthy Matron three times, and served as a state officer as Ruth in the ceremonial star point in 1986. Joyce was elected to the school board of Ottawa-Glandorf school system for several years acting as president for one term. Joyce was a Cub Scout den mother, a Girl Scout troop leader, and an officer of the Appleseed Ridge Girl Scout Council.
After retirement, she and her husband, Robert L. Bollinger, moved to Leesburg and volunteered at the local hospital. She was an avid golfer, playing into her eighties on a regular basis. Always a very active person, Joyce was in a traveling clogging dance group, and led exercise classes at the Plantation at Leesburg where she resided. She also was a licensed private pilot.
Joyce and Robert married in 1947 and were married for 56 years until his death in 2004. She is also predeceased by her brother Kenneth Cogswell and his wife, Camille.
Joyce is survived by son Mark (Diane) Bollinger, Lima, OH; daughters Lisa (Lawrence) Ellerbrock, Columbus, OH; Robin Bollinger, Columbus, OH; Sara (Tracey) Miller, Cincinnati, OH; her grandchildren: Melissa Smiley, Lima, OH; Noelle (Shawn) Szydlyk, Indianapolis, IN; Sarah (Alan) Stevenson, Lima, OH; Emily (Jason) Ketch, Columbus, OH; Jeff (Shawna) Ellerbrock, Gahanna, OH; Elizabeth (Eric) Fritz, Rocky River, OH; Kazmin Mclntyre, Gahanna, OH; Zach Gallick, Columbus, OH; Tyler Kuhlman, Hamilton, OH; Brian (Kimmy) Miller, Florence, KY; Josh Miller, Southgate, KY; and her great-grandchildren: Avery Ketch, Jacob Szydlyk, Reagan Ketch, Charlotte Szydlyk, Blaise McIntyre, Julia Ellerbrock, Liam McIntyre, Sadie Fritz, Julia Ellerbrock, Jack Ketch, Emery Kuhlman, Abigail Ellerbrock, Mady Kuhlman, Robert Fritz, Grace McIntyre, Finnley McIntyre, Desmond Miller, Mac Stevenson, and Aidan Stevenson.
Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Dublin. A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
