Nancy Sue Korodi (nee Goettl), age 76, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior Jesus on the morning of December 24, 2025 with family by her side following an eight-year struggle with PPA/dementia.
Born on October 25, 1949 in Mansfield Ohio to Harry and Kathryn Louise Goettl, Nancy was a 1967 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School.
While attending Arizona State University, Nancy responded to God’s loving call, and received Jesus as her personal Savior. Her faith in Jesus and intimate relationship with Him was the base-foundation, strength, and motivation of her life-long desire to serve Him and share her faith with others.
Nancy met her husband-to-be, Phil, at a church youth group gathering in December, 1969. It took Phil only one look to see that Nancy was heaven-sent. The “marriage-made-in-heaven” took place on October 10, 1970. To this date, Phil still says, “I got the prize”.
Nancy and Phil raised their three children, Philip, Kim, and Brian, in Westerville, Ohio.
Nancy always had an eye for style. She spent her early career days working at Maxwell’s and Lazarus Department Stores. In the 1980’s, Nancy teamed with one of her church sister-buddies (also named Nancy) to operate a preschool in her home. Although academics was the focus, Bible stories, field trips, and song times were also part of the experience. Nancy loved the opportunity to share God’s love with many of the neighborhood children over the years. A few years later, Nancy worked as a receptionist at a Christian psychiatric counselling office. Some patients may have received their most effective counsel and encouragement while sitting in the waiting area across from Nancy’s desk.
Nancy loved to encourage people about Jesus. She shared her faith with a caring, compassionate warmth that drew people to her, and to Jesus. Nancy lit up every room she entered.
Nancy was a prayer warrior. And specifically, a prayer-partner with two of her very good friends and sisters in Christ, Elsie and Nanette. They entrusted each other with confidential concerns, primarily about their children, spanning decades. God has been listening, and answering.
Nancy was an amazing, self-taught artist (actually, a God-given talent). Ink-pen drawings (primarily facial portraits), oil paintings (flowers, fruit, squirrels, etc.) on slate and on bread-boards. Many still adorning the walls and shelves of friends and relatives.
Teaching Sunday School, coordinating meals for church funerals, and sewing costumes and angel-wings for Grace Brethren’s Living Christmas Tree concerts were part of Nancy’s servant involvement.
Nancy loved to entertain, often hosting large dinner parties for family and friends. The gourmet food was always great, only exceeded by the wonderful fellowship around the table.
Nancy was deeply committed to her family. Not only was she a nurturing, loving mother and Nana to her children and grandchildren, Nancy played a caring role of “mom” to many other young people throughout her life.
Preceding Nancy in death were her parents, Harry and Kathryn Louise, brother Gordon (and sister-in-law Sharon), brother-in-law David Korodi, Sr., nephew Scott Goettl, and great-nephew Shane Fitzpatrick.
Succeeding Nancy are husband Phil, son Philip, daughter Kimberley (Jonathan) Wiley, son Brian (Christa), grandchildren Samuel Korodi, Kate, Jackson and Harrison Wiley, and Mason, Caden, Ava, and Baron Korodi, brother Fred (Julie), sister-in-law Evelyn (Korodi) Kellet, Korodi niece and nephews and their children, multiple “Arizona” Goettl nieces and nephews and their children, and “Columbus” niece Cindi (Sean) Fitzpatrick and their children and grandchild,
The family wishes to acknowledge and express our deepest thanks to the caregivers and staff at Dublin Retirement Village Senior Star Memory Care, where Nancy was blessed to spend her final 3-1/2 years. Nancy had been dance-deprived for over 50 years (Phil doesn’t dance). So the staff did their best to make up for that. “Alexa, play Aretha Franklin” was all it took to get Nancy started. But far above that, the Senior Star staff became family. Their loving, compassionate care for Nancy could not have been greater or more personal. A community of blessing to her and wonderful peace of mind for the family. Also, the family wishes to express our deepest thanks to Tiffaney and the staff of Capitol City Hospice. Nancy received great blessings from their involvement with her for her final 2-1/2 years. Their anticipation and fulfillment of her needs provided the best care she could have received. And the 24-hour comfort care during Nancy’s final days allowed her to be pain-free and anxiety free, awaiting her graduation in Jesus from this temporal burden to her ultimate healing and eternal reward.
Local family will gather privately for interment in coming days.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Grace Polaris Church, 8225 Worthington-Galena Road, Westerville, Ohio. The family will receive guests beginning at 10:00 AM, and also during a light food reception immediately following the service.
