Robert Paisley Armour, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on January 28th, 2024. Robert “Bob” was born in Toronto, Ohio on April 15th, 1944 to Ruth and Robert Armour. Bob was preceded in death by his younger sister, Karen Wiley and older sister, Betty Ann Dunn, both of whom he loved very much.
Bob grew up in a small farming community where neighbors took care of one another. After losing his father at the age of 14, little Bobby quickly became the “man of the house,” for his mother and two sisters. He’d cook them dinner every night and then take an extra serving up the road to his ailing grandfather, where he would spend the night. This upbringing helped form the caring, compassionate man he would become. Bob always thought of others, putting their interests before himself, and was happy for other people’s good fortune.
Bob attended undergraduate school at The Ohio State University, served in Vietnam as an officer for the U.S. Army, and returned to OSU to study law and earn his JD. He loved OSU so much that when TBDBITL took the field, tears came to his eyes.
After law school, Bob found his calling in construction management, where he would work professionally for his entire career. He built everything from Red Roof Inn’s and office buildings to bridges, levees and water treatment facilities.
In 1973, Bob had the good fortune of meeting Mary Margaret Miller on a blind date, and the rest is history. Bob and Marg welcomed two sons, Cory and Brady, into their family. He adored his sons, forming such a tight bond over the years that he even officiated both of their weddings.
Bob loved his family and friends fiercely, and they all loved him back. He always took the time to pick up the phone and call them to see how they were doing. He loved mailing them newspaper articles he thought were interesting, or of something that reminded him of them. Bob was funny, smart, had a sharp wit, loved to laugh and have a good time.
If ever there was a handyman, it was Bob Armour. He could build and fix anything and was an expert at working on cars and boats. Bob often lent a hand over the years helping his sons and friends work on their projects as well. If he couldn’t fix it, he’d jimmy-rig it!
Bob spent his free-time boating on Lake Erie, where the CatawbaBoba was a legend on the lake. He also enjoyed volunteering at Stratford Farms and playing the baritone in numerous community bands.
Bob will certainly be missed, but he will forever live on in the hearts and minds of all those who knew and loved him, including his wife, Marg, his son Cory and wife Gentry, his son Brady and wife Lesley, numerous nieces and nephews, and more friends than we can count.
The family would like to thank the Ohio Health medical staff who provided wonderful care to Bob over the past few years, especially Dr.’s Kloda, Krishna and Schroeder.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 9th, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a service at 3:00 pm at Schoedinger Dublin Funeral Home; 5980 Perimeter Drive Dublin, Ohio 43017. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dublin Community Bands, Stratford Ecological Center, or the Delaware Community Concert Band.
