Robert A. Maggs (Bob, Bobby), 61, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2025. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, where he was raised by his parents, Duane and Patricia Maggs, along with his brother, Don Maggs.
Bob chose to attend The Ohio State University after being recruited by several universities across the country. He was the number one offensive lineman recruit in 1981 as a Parade All-American and two-time All-Ohio honoree. While at Ohio State, he was a two-time All-Big Ten Center. In 2011, he served as the Honorary Captain during the Buckeyes’ game against Colorado.
Bob was married to Marcy Horn Maggs, and they enjoyed 33 wonderful years together. They built a life together in Dublin, Ohio, for the past 26 years, where they had their three children: Grace Lauren Maggs (2000, deceased), Sophia Reed Maggs (24), and Mason Robert Maggs (22). They created countless cherished memories in their “Happy Place.”
Bob worked in sales at Mueller Roofing Distributors. Outside of work, Bob loved golfing, football, being by the water, and spending time with his many family and friends on his patio while reminiscing about 50+ years of music history. He loved his years of coaching his children in baseball, basketball, DFL football, and softball.
Those who knew Bob will remember him as the “Gentle Giant” – for his kind heart, his warm, happy smile, and his fierce love for his family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marcy (Horn) Maggs, his children, Sophia and Mason, his brother, Don (Beverly), his mother-in-law, Karen Horn, his sister-in-laws, Diana Bahr (Jim) and Bethany McFarland (Randy), and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter Grace Lauren, and his father-in-law Jim Horn.
Visitation will be held at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017 on Thursday, October 30, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Powell Church, 7600 Liberty Rd N, Powell, Ohio 43065 on Friday, October 31, at 11:00 am.
The three of us have lost the love of our lives; we were your biggest fans. He will be deeply missed.
