Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called Sandy home to live in His loving arms forever on June 24, 2023
Sandy was born on the Hilltop in Columbus, Ohio. She was very happy to be the eldest cousin of the very large and wonderful Koch family. So many of her happiest memories shared from childhood involve all of her fun and loving cousins.
In high school, she met the love of her life Forrest "Skip" Evans with a little help from her mother, Gertrude. After she decided she no longer wanted to go to the prom with the boy who asked her, her mother promptly asked Skip to take Sandy to the prom. He agreed, and after one date he said "That's the girl I'm going to marry" and after several years of dating, he did! They had a wonderful 50-year marriage, residing in Dublin. They had a shared love of architecture, family, enjoying nature, and most importantly their love of the Lord. We take comfort that they are together once again. They could be seen at every Dublin Rocks Athletic or Music event supporting their children dating back to the 1980's. From helping with the Boosters Concession Stands to the Football Friday Night Spaghetti Dinners, to cheering from the stands, they were there for every event. In later years, Sandy became a fixture in the stands once again cheering on the Dublin Rocks while supporting her grandchildren. It would be rare for her to miss a game.
In more recent years, she loved spending time visiting her grandchildren in Georgia. She often spent several weeks there at a time. Sandy was proud of her 16-year career at the Huntington National Bank. She also loved serving as a Riverside Hospital Volunteer for 15 Years. She spent time reading her Bible, and encouraging others through her love of writing cards and letters. She also loved taking walks and visiting with friends and neighbors. However, nothing gave her more joy than any time spent with her grandchildren, the happiest part of her life.
Sandy was the loving and devoted wife of Forrest "Skip" Evans for over 50 years. He preceded her in death in 2005. Sandy was also a beloved daughter of Kermit and Gertrude Stewart and a supportive sister of Crystal Stewart, all proceeded her in death as well.
Sandy will be dearly missed by daughter, Melissa (Mark) Linville; son, Christian (Melinda) Evans; and grandchildren, Megan Linville, Madison (Tommy) Foley, Livia Evans, and Mia Evans. She will also be dearly missed by very special Aunt Nancy Fenstemaker, her sister-in-law, Anne Boston Smith, many loving cousins, several nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends.
The family would like to thank Carriage Court Assisted Living Facility. Although her time there was brief, the staff's kindness and care made her final days so much better. A special thanks also to Assisting Hands Home Health, Vitas Hospice, and also National Church Residences .
Please join us in celebrating Sandy's life on Friday, June 30th at Saint John's Lutheran Church 6135 Rings Road Dublin. Pastor Adam Steinbrenner officiating.
The family will receive visitors starting at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at the Dublin Cemetery. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to return back to Saint John's for lunch and a time of fellowship and sharing stories.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in her honor to the Saint John's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund for continued care and upkeep of the Shelter House which was designed by Forrest many years ago. In appreciation of the care and support Sandy and her family received, a gift can also be made to Vitas Hospice in her honor, by simply visiting: vitascommunityconnection.org . Also, just simply planting some beautiful "Forget Me Not" flowers in your garden as a daily reminder of what Sandy meant to all of us.
